Did you know October is National Cruise Vacation Month and that Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA), the world´s largest cruise association, has dedicated one entire week to help cruisers find great deals?

Go hug your favorite travel agent and ask them to “show you the money.”

Cruisers can expect to find savings as well as onboard credits for shipboard spending, stateroom upgrades, or other booking incentives such as complimentary shore excursions, free airfare, free hotel packages, and deposit waivers.

Meanwhile …

Besides mentions of sales and discounts, some of the cruise lines manged to post some interesting and fun posts reminding us why we need to go on our next great adventure. Read on.

Viking River Cruise captured my attention and got a “repin” from me for their “Take the ‘Lug’ Out of Luggage” pinboard that displays “fun functional luggage to use on your next Viking River Cruise!”

From the ships….

Holland America Line gets top honors because I love when the ships show fans and followers the human-side behind cruise brands. In the post below are Richard Meadows, left, executive vice president, Marketing, Sales & Guest Programs, and Stein Kruse, right, president & CEO, with restaurateur Sirio Maccioni, center, at Le Cirque New York.

Warning: the lighting on this video is terrible but you will overcome that little annoyance to see a vintage porthole on the Queen Mary. I had a chance to spend the night on the retired ship and found the vintage finishes quite charming. To accompany my narration is Brian, my sea-loving 8-year old. Read about my visit to Long Beach here.
